What are your plans this Memorial Day weekend? For some, Memorial Day is only about shopping sales, BBQ dinners and an extra day to sleep in; while its true meaning of honoring the men and women who have died while serving in the military has been unfortunately overlooked. Their ultimate sacrifice deserves respect, not an all day shopping trip for new patio furniture. Read More...

Tribute or Trivial - What Are Your Plans For Memorial Day Weekend?
Congrats To The Senior Students At The bART Center For Music
This week was the spring concert at The bART Center For Music showcasing young talent from across the city. We captured dramatic still shots of the students and instructors at the rehearsal to use in the upcoming bART print brochure. A video shoot of the concert followed the next night and the music was amazing! The students performed beautiful classical pieces, but our favorite was the quintet performance of "Hedwig's Theme" from Harry Potter (love that movie!). Read More...

Cookie Cutter vs. Custom Website Design
I recently went to a Minor League Baseball game with some friends, and it was a great way to kick off the season. The Tulsa Drillers won the game and we had a great time eating stadium food and cheering on the team; however, the experience still came up short when compared to the Major League Baseball games I have attended. Yes, both MiLB and MLB baseball games include similar elements: a team, cheering fans, overpriced (yet delicious) food, umpires, scoreboard, cheesy stadium games, and the list goes on; but although MiLB and MLB games look similar, the experience at each is not the same. Self-Documenting Code: Best Practices for Cleaner Code
As with any job, programmers should always strive to improve the quality of their work. In programming, there are many loosely-structured “best practice” techniques we can use to write code that is as efficient as possible and easy to update and maintain. Some are well-known, broad-reaching best practices, like DRY (Don’t Repeat Yourself), and reusable concepts suited to more specific situations, like design patterns. Others are architecture concepts, like MVC (Model-View-Controller). In any case, the key is to know when to use a technique, how far to take it and when to avoid it. In this blog, I want to discuss self-documenting code, which is the practice of favoring clear variable names and function names, as well as other coding practices that make code easy to understand, over excessive commenting. Phone Photography vs. Professional Photography
I rarely take my actual camera with me these days. I like not having to carry around my bulky Nikon camera, whereas my phone sleekly slips into my pocket. However, using the camera on your phone has a time and a place. A camera phone is good for quick pictures on the go, but not so much for taking pictures for your next brochure or marketing piece. Why? I am so glad you asked. Read More...

Rebrand Your Business With A “New Doo”
This week started off as usual: open the door, throw down my bags and receive a barking "hello" from our office dog, Pancake; however, there was one major difference. Pancake, our extremely hairy, somewhat eccentric, Pomeranian was basically shaved! Where long, golden hair had gracefully adorned her cute face, now was sheared off! I looked at Pancake suspiciously, not too fond of the new look, and then settled in to clean out emails from my computer. Read More...
Lessons From The Set Of A Matcha Design Photo Shoot
"If at first you don't succeed, try, try, try again." This well-known proverb was first popularized in the 1800s, and has since shown up in many songs, literary themes and motivational speeches throughout the years. However, there is a slightly different version of this proverb that has recently come to my attention: "If at first you don't succeed, try, try again. Then quit. No use being a damn fool about it." - W.C. Fields - American juggler, comedian and actor. Read More...
